Education & Community Outreach
How does Cork Opera House reach out to its audience?
Education and Community Outreach at the Cork Opera House is dedicated to sharing the power of live performing arts with audiences of all ages. Since its inception in 2001, Education and Community Outreach has focussed primarily on schools. From 2005, that role will expand to encourage arts access and participation among all sectors of the community.
The Education and Community Outreach programme will surround the season programme, illuminating the "how and why" of drama, dance, opera and musical theatre.
Activities include:
- On-site workshops for students, teachers, community groups
- "Behind the Curtain" post-performance talks with cast and crew
- Library events for families
- Subsidised tickets for disadvantaged students
- Education packs
- The CoOpera8 scheme for teenagers
To celebrate the 150th Anniversary of Cork Opera House an exciting new three-dimensional, illustrated history will tour to schools, libraries and community centres.
