LOVE, LOVE, LOVE…it’s all about LOVE.
Let There Be Love is a celebration of love – pure and simple! Not just Hallmark love, but love in all its forms; platonic, unrequited, broody, young, old, troubled, distant love… the love you have for your partner, mother, child or your best friend. So whether you’re single, engaged, on a first date, a spinster, or married for over 40 years, Cork Opera House has put together something a little unconventional for you this Valentine’s Day. Let There Be Love is a carnival of events including some all-time favourite love themes - from Arvo Part to Donna Summers, Piazzola to Des’ree, you’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll melt!
But love is a two-way street, and we need YOU to get involved.
The LOVE booth will be a pop-up booth inside the Opera House foyer until Feb 11th. Everyone is welcome to leave a message for a loved one; a selection of which will form part of the evening and be projected on stage to surprise (or embarrass) that special someone. So drop in, sit down and love out. It is also possible to record your own message and email them to us: sdunphy@corkoperahouse.ie
Also this Valentine’s night, speed dating comes to Cork Opera House! During the interval of the show, we will be hosting a special speed dating session in the Blue Angel bar – so register ahead of time to participate: sdunphy@corkoperahouse.ie. Those of you not needing a speedy intro to the world of dating will be treated to the legend himself DJ Ian Fiasco, who will be spinning the decks in the main bar, entertaining the masses with the world’s greatest love anthems and funkiest of tunes.
Those of you looking to make a proposal with a difference please do get in touch! Wouldn’t it be wonderful to propose to that special person from the Opera House stage? Don’t forget girls, it’s also a leap year, you know what that means!!? Strictly confidential of course! Get in touch by emailing sdunphy@corkoperahouse.ie.
With a huge variety of acts of both local and national acclaim including West Cork Ukulele Orchestra, The Roaring Forties, Karen Underwood, Linda Kenny, musician in residence Kate Ellis, Carolyn Goodwin, John O’Brien, the Voice Effect Choir and many, many more guests, the stage will be ablaze with the sublime, the surreal and the romantic! Tour hosts for the evening will be the hilarious duo Trevor Ryan and Declan Wolfe!
Let There Be Love is the perfect alternative this Valentine’s Day so bring a loved one along, or simply drag some friends to a Valentine’s gig with a difference!
