Cork Opera House together with the renowned Cork based theatre company, Corcadorca, are joining forces this October to present a new production of one of Shakespeare’s most famous plays – Romeo and Juliet. Corcadorca’s Romeo and Juliet will present a modern approach and will build on last year’s success of The Winter’s Tale, also presented in collaboration with Cork Opera House. This play embodies the romance and tragedy of life and love and inspires us to question our own destiny.

"One fairer than my love?
The all-seeing sun
Ne’er saw her match since
first the world begun."

Declarations of Love
As ever Corcadorca is in love with the idea of bringing theatre to all of Cork (and beyond.) As part of the production of Romeo and Juliet we have planned a way to include the people of Cork in every night of the play. Soon, ballot boxes will be appearing around Cork and we're hoping that you can provide us with your Declarations of Love.

The ballot boxes will be appearing in numerous places including many libraries, where you can write us your ideas and thoughts on the wondrous thing that is love. These Declarations of Love will then be included in every night of the Romeo and Juliet production in the Cork Opera House.

Together Corcadorca and you can bring not only Shakespeare's idea of love but all our understandings of love to thousands of theatre goers from all over the country.
