Opera Ireland presents the Metropolitan Opera Live in High Definition from New York at Cork Opera House.

In 2006, a performance of Mozart's ‘The Magic Flute' was relayed live by satellite, in full audiovisual high definition, from the stage of the Metropolitan Opera in New York to cinemas across America. It was a huge hit and the entire Met season can now be seen live on screens around the world, drawing large audiences.

Cork Opera House is proud to present this unique operatic and entertainment experience. With many of the world's greatest opera stars, lavish and stylish productions, and broadcast production values to match, this promises to be a very exciting addition to operatic life in Cork.

*****    "The buzz of anticipation before the screening of Tosca, the applause at the end, and the excited, appreciative voices of delighted patrons leaving the Opera House, felt the same as if we had been in New York's famed Metropolitan Opera House.  The fact that we had been watching on a giant screen was irrelevant.  It felt like being there; it only cost 25 euro and there are eight more operas to enjoy...As for Tosca herself, I cannot imagine that even Callas was more convincing that Karita Mattila...I can't wait for Aida, on October 24." - Declan Townsend, Irish Examiner
