Cork Opera House and UCC Theatre Artist in Residence
Cork Opera House & UCC have come together to form an internationally important collaboration over ten years. This partnership establishes Cork Opera House as a Learning Theatre and gives UCC the opportunity to engage dynamically in the professional performing arts sector.
As key institutions in Munster, Cork Opera House and University College Cork are responsible for helping shape the arts and cultural sector within Ireland. This partnership will create industry leaders of the future. It will provide a pioneering platform for the next generation of artists and practitioners to learn and gain experience, and enable young artists and practitioners to enter the workforce with confidence, resilience and a deep understanding of the industry and its opportunities.

About the Position
In support of this collaboration, applications are invited for the inaugural Theatre Artist in Residence, jointly funded by Cork Opera House & UCC. The Theatre Artist in Residence will contribute to the development of the COH-UCC partnership in its first year through engagement with the Opera House as well as with students / staff at UCC, particularly in the Department of Theatre. They will contribute to teaching on the new MA in Theatre & Performative Practices, as well as develop links to Cork Opera House in-house productions. The successful candidate will liaise directly with the CEO of Cork Opera House, and the Professor of Creative Practice at UCC. We welcome applications from theatre artists practicing in areas including, but not confined to; production, direction, scenography, lighting design, sound design, costume design and dramaturgy.
The appointment of the Theatre Artist in Residence is for one year and the successful applicant will be paid a fee of €20,000. Modes / dates of engagement will be negotiated with the appointee as appropriate to their specialism and UCC / Cork Opera House projects.
