Cork Opera House Jazz Artist in Residence Laoise Leahy curates her first performance at The Green Room, Half Moon Lane, on Friday 17th February 2023.
Blending a lifetime of eclectic influences, including artists such as Esperanza Spaulding, Laura Mvula, Beady Belle, Jazzmeia Horn, Etta James, Ella Fitzgerald, Amy Winehouse, Al Jerreau, Herbie Hancock, and many others, Laoise’s music weaves strands of jazz, soul, pop, blues, rock, and electro driven by lyrics concerned with human circumstances and experience, always approached with a spirit of realism, empathy, humour, and hope.
Accompanied by her band – Johnny Taylor (piano), Barry Donohue (bass), and Dominic Mullan (drums), Laoise will perform a mix of Jazz standards and original compositions, in a relaxed evening of music with the spotlight on Laoise’s rich, soulful, tones, sure to have audiences entranced.
