Following on from the successes of The Mikado and The Pirates of Penzance, Cork Opera House presents a concert performance of Gilbert and Sullivan’s H.M.S. Pinafore. A tale of mismatched love across different social classes, this satire tells the tale of a Captain’s marriage plans for his daughter and how they go hilariously awry when she falls for a lower-class sailor instead of the First Lord of the Admiralty.

With many well - known songs including ‘I am the Monarch of the sea, I’m Called Little Buttercup and He is an Englishman, H.M.S. Pinafore was the earliest enduring success of this famous collaboration and remains one of the most popular Gilbert and Sullivan operas to this day.

Each of the concerts in the 2020 series will once again feature our very own Cork Opera House Concert Orchestra conducted by John O’Brien, a chorus from Cork Operatic Society, and internationally celebrated soloists.
