The Blarney Stone

The Lee Valley Players return to Cork Opera House to present their new musical production – The Blarney Stone – starring Patrick Bergin.
Wednesday 29th May 2019

€22 & €25*

The Lee Valley and Macroom have a strong tradition of presenting successful musicals. Over the years, a talented group staged shows at The Briery Gap ranging from Oklahoma to South Pacific, to Oliver and The Sound of Music.  More recently, they have presented new works - Murder at Shandy Hall and Sir Henry - and now for the third successive year, The Lee Valley Players are embarking on a new musical production – The Blarney Stone.

This enchanting musical was written by John McDonagh, brother of the famous poet, patriot and hero of the 1916 Rebellion, Thomas McDonagh. The Blarney Stone is an ingenious mixture of real-life drama and the magical world of Irish mythology, with the local band of leprechauns showing just who holds the upper hand in Blarney. The musical score by German composer Fritz Brase cleverly blends his own natural musical style with Irish traditional songs and dances.

Starring Patrick Bergin, The Blarney Stone is full of laughter and tears, clouds and sunshine – a musical for all the family to enjoy!
