Cork Opera House is committed to supporting a sustainable future across the entire gamut of arts, culture and design. A beacon of folklore, Cork Opera House champions the act of storytelling on a daily basis, platforming oral history in practice and performance. We are dedicated to implementing a sustainable compass by which the next generation of practitioners are led. In convening to host a dynamic oral discussion as part of DCCI Design Week 2023, Cork Opera House is thrilled to be working with Chapter to propel real change with respect to our collective circular futures.

We will delve into Ireland’s world-famous folklore and unearth the timeless wisdom woven into its narratives. These age-old tales have the ability to communicate complex themes, providing us with a lens through which we can examine our relationship with sustainability. As we journey through folklore, from a design perspective, we’ll excavate the narratives that have guided our choices and behaviours.

Speakers and panellists will include:

Eunice Power – Chef and business owner

Doireann Healy – Begley & Bowie

Deirdre Corcoran – Chapter

Jackie Gowran – Business Weaving

Madeleine Murray – Change By Degrees

Sean O’Sullivan – Badly Made Books
