Joanne McNally

‘Pinotphile’ follows the runaway success of Joanne’s smash hit ‘The Prosecco Express’ – a show that set off on its maiden voyage in initial previews back in 2019 before becoming a critically acclaimed global riot – touring across UK, Ireland, Australia, Dubai, Canada and the US – where media giant Variety tipped Joanne as one of its comedy ‘Ones to Watch’. Back home, Ticketmaster IE crowned the show its ‘Comedy Event of the Year’ following an unprecedented 78 show run at Dublin’s Vicar Street.

Since then, McNally has been keeping herself busy by ruining men’s lives (and her own) – still single, still unfertilised, and laden with irreverent, ridiculous and hilarious war stories, join Joanne for a wild ride in ‘Pinotphile’, as she navigates situationships, revenge, frenemies and rejection in her ‘terrifyingly funny’ (London Standard) and ‘joyously nuts’ (Irish Examiner) trademark style.

One of podcasting’s best loved names, Joanne is the co-host of the award-winning ‘My Therapist Ghosted Me’ alongside best friend Vogue Williams – since launching in 2021, the podcast reaches over 2.5 million listeners per month and has toured across the world, culminating in an extraordinary run of 5 sold out nights at Dublin’s 3 Arena.

Elsewhere, Joanne also hosts the hugely popular BBC Sounds format Joanne McNally Investigates – with two series under her belt – ‘Who Replaced Avril Lavigne?’ and ‘Do Furbys Spy On Us?’. A primetime TV regular, Joanne is best known for her riotous appearances on Taskmaster, The Jonathan Ross Show, The Big Fat Quiz of Everything, and many more.

Culture Night 2024: Immersive Experimental Sound Experience

Join us at Cork Opera House for a unique auditory adventure.

This late night event is a chance to be invigorated by new and experimental sounds.

Step into a world where the walls are allowed to speak. An immersive experimental audio experience. Hosted in a venue rich with history, each room offers a unique sonic journey. Specially created for Cork Culture Night by composer Kevin Terry, this experience is designed to transport you to another realm, where every intonation resonates deep within.

As you wander through our spaces, you’ll encounter sound-worlds composed from the acoustics of each room. Some rooms feature walls dating back to 1855. The sound interacts with the architectural nuances, creating an experience where every pulse and murmur is something that has been hanging in the air since the buildings construction.

Perfect for night owls and sound lovers. Don’t miss the chance to immerse yourself in a world where every room tells its story through sound.

This event has been created as part of a Masters by Research studentship with UCC and Cork Opera House by Kevin Terry.

Terry holds a first class MA in Composition from MTU (2020) and has received multiple awards for his work including the West Cork Chamber Music Composition Prize (2021), the IMRO/ Feis Ceoil String Orchestra composition prize (2021) and the Jerome Hynes Young Composers’ Award (2019).

Kevin’s MRes project will develop a multimedia work in response to Cork Opera House incorporating sonic, architectural, and historical perspectives of the building as source material.

Gina and The Champions – 50 Songs for 50 Years

Gina & The Champions are BACK at Cork Opera House!

Cork-based Gina, Dale Haze and The Champions took the dancing scene by storm from the late 1970s and early 80s with 25 chart hit singles and several best-selling albums. Amazingly, 50 years on, the original band members, Gina, Pat, Mossey, Eddie & Tony still perform together at sell out shows.

The band’s recording career has produced a rich discography which is adorned by fans and critics alike. In 1977 they released their debut album aptly titled From the Beginning. Their second studio album Champions Again was released in 1979. The third LP was released in 1981 which featured many of the hits of the previous two years. Their fourth album from those early years was self-titled, marking a brief change of band name to the abbreviated G DH & C. Dragonflies is the most recent album and was released 2016.

Gina, Dale Haze and the Champions received countless awards and accolades over the years. 1979 proved to be a monumental year for the band, firstly with the release of one of their biggest hits ‘The Greatest Lover’ and then being decorated with two major awards; Gina being voted ‘Irelands Number 1 Pop Singer’ and the band being voted ‘Irelands Top band’, a feat they repeated many times over the following years.

2024 is already shaping up to be another exciting year for fans and band members alike, as the band gear up for their 50 Songs for 50 Years album tour. The tour will see them perform in some of the country’s finest venues, continuing in their tradition of bringing joy through music and dance to the hearts of many.
